Week One: Honoring God with Our Health
Scripture of the Week
"Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies."
— 1 Corinthians 6:19–20
Introduction
As we step into a new week, I’m reminded that health is not just about numbers on a scale, calories burned, or the vitamins we take. It’s about stewardship. Scripture tells us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit — sacred vessels entrusted to us by God. When we care for our health, we aren’t chasing perfection; we’re honoring the One who created us and living fully in the calling He has placed on our lives.
Faith Reflection
Our culture often views health through the lens of appearance or achievement. But as believers, we know it runs much deeper. Maintaining our health allows us to:
Have the energy to serve our families, churches, and communities.
Approach each day with focus and gratitude.
Better align our daily choices with God’s desire for us to thrive.
When we ignore our health, we may feel tired, discouraged, or even disconnected from our purpose. But when we treat our bodies as temples, we begin to see exercise, nutrition, rest, and even medications or supplements not as chores — but as acts of obedience and worship.
Health Highlight: Small Steps Matter
Honoring God with our health doesn’t mean overhauling everything overnight. Instead, it’s about small, consistent choices.
This week, I want to challenge you to focus on one simple habit that nurtures your body:
💧 Hydration – Drink half your body weight in ounces of water daily.
🥦 Nutrition – Add one colorful fruit or vegetable to each meal.
🚶♀️ Movement – Take a 15-minute walk outdoors and use that time to pray or reflect.
Just like prayer strengthens our spirit, these habits strengthen our body. Over time, these small decisions build a foundation of health that equips us to live with joy, purpose, and vitality.
Action Step for the Week
Pick one habit from the list above and commit to it for the next 7 days. Write it down, pray over it, and ask God to help you stay consistent. Remember: progress, not perfection.
Closing Prayer
“Lord, thank You for the incredible gift of our bodies and the breath of life You’ve given us. Help us to see health not as a burden but as a blessing and a way to honor You. Give us wisdom in our choices, strength when we feel weak, and joy in every step of this journey. May our lives — in body, mind, and spirit — glorify You. Amen.”
Final Encouragement
